Mayor to Appoint New Municipal Finance Officer
When the Freeman City Council meets in regular session on Tuesday evening, May 3, Mayor Michael Walter is expected to appoint the city’s new finance officer. The position has currently been filled on an hourly, as needed basis with Tobias Schandz handling vouchers, payroll, and financial reports as interim finance officer. Administrative assistant Lisa Jensen was also named temporary finance officer in order to fill in as needed, as well.
The upcoming meeting will include the final session for the 2021-22 council, followed by the administering of oaths as the 2022-23 council convenes. Mayor Walter will be sworn in for another 2-year term in office. Charles Gering,, Doug Uecker, and Steve “Charly” Waltner will be sworn in for 2-year terms as aldermen, while Tabitha Schoenwald will be sworn in for a 1-year term.
Councilors Blaine Saarie & Clifford “Lonnie” Tjaden will continue in their terms of office as part of the council.
The City of Freeman thanks outgoing Councilor Terry Jacobsen for his service in the role of alderman. Jacobsen chose not to seek re-election.
