Council Passes Sales Tax Bond Resolution
After hearing more about municipal bonds from attorney Todd Meierhenry of Meierhenry Sargent in special session on March 29, the council reconvened on Thursday, March 31. Thursday’s meeting featured a motion by Blaine Saarie & a second by Tabitha Schoenwald to pass a sales tax bond resolution in the amount of $2.8 million dollars.
Revenue generated from the bond will allow the council the ability to fund the Main Street reconstruction project without the need to delete to deplete other budget sources. The reconstruction is planned to span from North County Road to Fifth Street and also include adjacent portions of Railway, Third, & Fourth Streets. The apparent low bidder for the project was Reede Construction from Aberdeen; the council is expected to make the award to Reede at the upcoming council meeting scheduled to take place on Wednesday, April 6, at 6:30 PM.
